DDS serves the Global Health Security Agenda, TB programs and other related initiatives. IDDS supports select governments and their relevant ministries in the strengthening of human and animal health diagnostic networks and surveillance systems for infectious diseases and AMR. The AMR advisor will provide technical expertise to diagnostic network and surveillance system strengthening activities. Activities will be across IDDS countries and at the global level. The position is based in either the ICF office in Rockville, MD or regional ICF offices in Kenya and India and will work as part of a technical team of highly experienced experts in the areas of infectious disease diagnostics, surveillance, informatics, research and innovation
Responsibilities
Lead the project’s diagnostic advisors and other technical professionals in ensuring technically sound and feasible approaches for strengthening country capacity to conduct AMR testing across human, animal, and agricultural sectors.
Apply the project’s core technical approaches for key diagnostic network components such as supply chain, functional equipment and specimen referral and transport in support of AMR testing.
Bring an understanding of multi-sectoral AMR patterns and epidemiology to technical solutions; work closely with the project’s surveillance advisors to support lab-based AMR surveillance.
Provide technical expertise to ensure that project interventions target priority gaps;
Incorporate evidence-based methods, current practice, and established standards regarding AMR detection and surveillance;
Serve as the project’s key technical backstop for specific countries as assigned, including technical and administrative responsibilities related to work plans, budgets, activity implementation and reporting;
Provide virtual and in-person technical assistance to countries in GHSA and TB priority countries;
Represent the project to external stakeholders and contribute to the knowledge base through participation in scientific forums and technical networks;
Share new evidence and best practices with project, partners and host countries using informal and formal forums;
Contribute significantly to project work planning and reporting; and
Ensure that technical approaches align with project’s logical framework and monitoring indicators.
