Qualifications, Experience and Key competenciesMust possess a Master’s degree in Information Sciences from a recognized University
Must have at least 3 consecutive years of experience in an automated academic library system
Should be competent in the use of the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System and KOHA Library management system
Should have knowledge of the use of E-resources
Should have a user-friendly personality, able to handle library members without difficulty
Must be a team player
Responsibilities
In-charge of a campus Library
Supervision of staff under him/her in the campus
Coordination and administration of all library work and services
In-service training of new staff in the campus
Training In the use of OPAC, e-information resources for staff and students
Coordination of campus book selection and acquisition in collaboration with teaching staff
Offering reference and other advisory services to patrons
Orientation of new library users
Planning staff work schedules/shifts
Registration and clearance of library users
Ensuring observance of library rules and regulations
Responsible for the security of all library materials and equipment
Responsible for stack maintenance
Work in any of the university campus libraries as may be required
Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
