Details of the offer

Search for Common Ground (Search) is a world-wide Non-Profit Organization with the primary objective to change the way the world deals with conflict, away from adversarial approaches towards collaborative Solutions. Search has been working in Kenya since 2008, when we launched the award-winning series The Team. Our work has focused on overcoming ethnic, political, social and cultural divides, furthering constructive interaction and healthy relationships between civil society and key government actors, and transforming violent Conflict.Project SummarySearch in partnership with Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), Ijara Women For Peace (IJW) and Kiunga Youth Bunge Initiative (KYBI) are implementing a project which supports improving collaboration and trust between citizens and civilian government representatives in at-risk counties. This 24-month project, supported by PREACT- US DEPARTMENT OF STATE – EMBASSY NAIROBI, targets Lamu and Garissa counties and has the overall goal to empower community leaders and relevant government counterparts to jointly address issues of radicalization and terrorist recruitment in at-risk areas of Lamu and Garissa Counties. The project has two interrelated objectives:Strengthen community-led, CVE-relevant support and response structures in at-risk communities in Garissa and Lamu CountiesIncrease trust and collaboration between community members and relevant local government and security actors in at-risk areas. The project targets three main tiers of stakeholders: community influencers, community frontliners and civilian government security actors. For the purposes of this project, we define community influencers as women and men, predominantly youth, who have credibility, trust and reach within the networks of individuals at risk. Community frontliners refers to other community members, including family members, social workers, and educators; it also includes community leaders such as imams, pastors, clan elders/herdsmen, relevant CSO representatives, and those who have a security mandate within the community. Lastly, Civilian government and security actors include county and local government authorities, local chiefs, members of the police force and criminal justice sector actors. Theory of ChangeThe theory of change underpinning our project is that IF community influencers and frontliners have increased knowledge of VE to identify early signs of radicalization and trusted response structures to act on them; AND IF local, civilian government security actors, including from the police and justice sector, have improved skills and mechanisms to sensitively engage vulnerable communities on security issues, THEN radicalization and terrorist recruitment in Garissa and Lamu counties will be reduced BECAUSE citizens and government will have avenues to collaborate in ways that do not further victimize or put the other at risk, gradually improving mutual trust. In this call, Search is seeking to engage Media Companies / Journalists / Content Creator in the documentation and publishing of success stories (Print or audio visual), showing impact / change of the Kwa Pamoja Tuzuie Balaa project initiatives conducted in Garissa and Lamu County. In Lamu in Lamu West sub county (Hindi, Mkunumbi, Witu, Hongwe, Bahari) and In Garissa in areas of Hagadera & Bore hole 5 of Fafi Sub County and Garissa town of Garissa sub county. The Journalists / Content Creators will deliver:-1 Print feature story with pictures ,the story will not be below 1000 words and not exceeding 1500 words or 1 audio - visual feature story 5 - 10 minutes. The final products are expected to be delivered to Search Kenya by 28th March, 2024.Journalists / Social Media Content Creators interested and qualified may submit their quote, including links to work they previously produced:Include the Budget range for each:Print Feature Stories: KES 10,000 - 20,000.Video Feature Stories: KES 20,000 - 40,000.Incase of any clarifications: CONTACT PERSON: Dominick Mwambui (0729 66 34 24) - DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF BIDS: Tuesday, 19 March 2024Bids should be submitted through lever or on email Bids must be sent in KES currencyAny other relevant information that is key to their profileEVALUATION CRITERIA:An internal committee will assess the bids received, on the basis of: 1) Proven track record producing high-quality stories in the said counties2) Prior experience producing stories for international NGOs in Kenya3) Knowledge of the target locations4) Value for money5) Shortest delivery date5) Staff availability and commitment during the production period
