The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) was established by an Act of Parliament in July 2012 to coordinate a multi-sectoral effort aimed at preventing, controlling and mitigating the impact of alcohol and drug abuse in Kenya.
Towards achieving this mandate, NACADA wishes to competitively recruit a dynamic, result-oriented and self-driven Kenyan citizen to fill the following vacant positions within its establishment:

Overall Responsibility
Overall responsibility of the Centre in promoting and restoring Clients’ health by overseeing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the Centre; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff; and providing physical and psychological support for clients, friends, and families.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure proper and timely screening, assessment, treatment planning of psychological/psychiatric, and/or behavioral disorders; and other relevant documentation is done using nationally and internationally accepted standards
2. Ensure appropriate psychosocial support, adequate follow-up and aftercare program on persons discharged from treatment is implemented.
3. Collaborate with key local, international partners and other stakeholders to promote community activities for elimination of alcohol and drug abuse
4. Oversee all the outreach and awareness creation activities of the centre to ensure and maintain flow of the clients at the centre.
5. Measure health outcomes against standards at the Centre and maintain clinical operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programs and Ministry of Health regulations;
6. Complete Client care requirements by scheduling and assigning staff and following up on work results;
7. Maintain staff job results by coaching, ensure counsellors receive counsellors supervision, and overseeing disciplinary processes of all the employees at the Centre;
8. Protect Clients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols; enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations;
9. Ensure Client confidentiality and protect operations of the Centre by monitoring confidential information processing;
10. Ensure operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying availability, and ensuring they are serviced and repaired; and oversee methadone dispensation
11. Maintain clinical supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends; anticipating needed supplies, and raising requisitions for replenishment;
12. Develop partnerships with relevant institutions for Authority’s treatment and rehabilitation program
13. Carrying out public education on alcohol and drug abuse directly and in collaboration with other public or private bodies and institutions
14. Prepare and submit quarterly reports to management on operations of the Centre; and
15. Any other duties that may be allocated from time to time.
Job Specifications/Requirements
a) Eight (8) years’ work experience in a similar field; three (3) years of which must be in middle level management;
b) Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine/ Psychology/ Sociology or Public Health from a recognized institution;
c) Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology/Counselling Psychology or Public Health from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
d) Diploma in Addiction counselling from a recognized institution
e) Certified Addiction Professional by GCCE/DAP/NADAAC or any other recognized accrediting body
f) Must have worked in an accredited treatment and rehabilitation facility for not less than 5 years
g) Membership to a professional body e.g. ISSUP-K, CPAK, KCPA among others
h) Certificate in a Management Course from a recognized institution;
i) Proficiency in Computer applications; and
j) Meet chapter six of the constitution on leadership and integrity.
k) Knowledge and experience of Methadone Assisted Therapy (MAT) and Harm reduction interventions will be an added advantage.
