Duties and responsibilities
Direct and watch over a team of rodmen so that there is a smooth transfer of collected information.
Handle different ways of communication to update the surveying team on the latest and relevant survey data.
Identify and monitor on-site safety.
Maintain safe usage of surveying tools.
Note accurate area measurements to make sure conditions are suitable for the project.
Plan daily work to keep a safe work environment.
Record required data used in the construction project to help with accurate data collection.
Use a meter to make sure that elevation is measured accurately. Use basic computer processes for data entry and analysis. Chainman Requirements
Reporting to the superintending engineer structural/civil
Requirements for Appointment;
Certificate in Survey and Mapping or a related course from a recognized institution
Ability to read and comprehend survey plans.
Ability to perform basic survey calculations.
Ability to use survey instruments (GPS and total station)
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
