Job Summary
The official job duties of the chef involve overseeing the operations of a kitchen. All kitchen staff report to the Food and Beverage Manager. The chef also determines which equipment and ingredients are necessary to keep in the inventory. She/ he decides the menu, the specials, the frequency with which the menu changes.

Job Description
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Organizes and controls all kitchen operations.
• Overseeing the cooking and presentation of food to be served to the customers.
• To ensure kitchen staff adhere to required standards of product preparation and quality.
• Ensure kitchen staff pay attention to health, safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Liaises directly with front of the house staff to make sure that any issues that occur during service are handled in a positive manner and discussed properly at the end of the service.
• Supervises the commis chefs (trainee chefs), chefs de partie (run a section of the kitchen) and the sous chefs (deputizes the head chef) and the kitchen Assistant.
• He reports to the In-Charge Facilities, depending on the size of the restaurant or kitchen.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
ABILITY TO:
• Prioritize work to complete assignments in a timely manner.
• Must demonstrate ability to use of catering Equipment
• Must possess good interpersonal skills.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Have good knowledge in culinary field
• High level of teaching, training & motivational skills
• Must be computer literate with basic knowledge of MS Office Suite
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10 years relevant experience in a training institution of similar standing, hotel or restaurant.
• Diploma/ Certificate in food production from a recognized training Institution.
