The Kenya Institute of Bankers is the “Professional umbrella body” for the Banking and Finance sector in Kenya with a membership of 42 banks and Financial Institutions as corporate members and their employees as individual members. The Institute’s primary responsibility is to uphold the integrity of the Banking profession by promoting Acceptable Banking Standards by certifying professional banking education, training and providing consultancy/counseling, codes of conduct and continuing professional development programs.
We are looking for a
Chief Executive Officer
to join our team.

The role reports to the Council Chairman.

The role will be located at our Head Office in Nairobi.

Job Brief:
You will tasked with providing strategic leadership, drive business growth in a high integrity and ethical environment and ensure operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Institute and coordinate the establishment and maintenance of a strong institutional capacity to provide education/knowledge (professional qualifications) and training for the Banking and Financial Services Industry.
In addition, the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for promoting membership recruitment for solid and sufficient representation from the banking industry and be responsible for implementing Council resolutions/ policy guidelines and managing the day-to-day affairs of the Institute within established guidelines.

Responsibilities

Develop and recommend to the Council the long term corporate strategy, business plans, policies, procedures and annual operating budgets;

Implement the corporate strategy, budgets and any Council policies and resolutions; to achieve short and long term goals of the Institute.

Coordinate the development of syllabuses, preparation, administration and management of examinations;

Promote the qualifications of KIB nationally, regionally and internationally through effective marketing, communication and other appropriate strategies;

Ensure prudent management of assets and financial resources and accountability through proper monitoring and effective internal control measures;

Provide leadership in the day to day business and ensure a competent, efficient and motivated human capital for enhanced productivity and performance;

Promote an effective risk management culture and ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory and policy frameworks;

Coach, mentor and develop the senior management team to ensure excellence in performance and effective succession management;

Foster a corporate culture that promotes sound ethical and good governance practices;

Manage relationships, networks and engagement with key stakeholders;

Enhance the corporate reputation and image of KIB

Academic & Professional Qualification
Essential

Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Business, Finance and/or Education from a recognized institution

Banking qualifications, ACIB/AKIB.

Desirable
Project Management certification

Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in a relevant field with at least four (4) years served in a senior management level position;

In-depth knowledge of banking and the trends

Have thorough knowledge and understanding of management of examinations and in particular professional examinations
