For this Internship, fluency in English is required.1) Provides policy guidance to the Chief of External Relations and Partnerships Branch, the Resource Mobilization Steering Committee and other senior management, on conceptual strategy development and management of the implementation of overall strategies and intra and inter-divisional/departmental policies and procedures. Supports development of regional and branch/divisional resource mobilization strategies as well as strategies targeted to different donor categories including the corporate sector, foundations and philanthropists.2) Plans and oversees the work programme, budget, and management of activities undertaken by the Donor Relations & Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit; ensures that substantive work programmes and programmed activities are carried out in a timely fashion, coordinating diverse projects in the Unit/, and, in liaison with other organizations of the United Nations System, donors and agencies as appropriate; provides input and quality assurance of resource mobilization activities of staff throughout the organization with resource mobilization functions.3) Provides substantive input in the preparation of position papers and reports for presentation to intergovernmental bodies such as the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budget Questions, Committee for Programme Coordination, Economic and Social Council, the General Assembly and the UN-Habitat Assembly and its Executive Board.4) Contributes to the reporting to intergovernmental bodies on budget/programme performance or on programmatic/ substantive issues, as appropriate, particularly those presented in biannual and/or annual reports.5) Provides tools to support organization-wide resource mobilization efforts including donor intelligence; a Donor Information System whose features include, tools to support timely reporting to donors; income projections, training for staff with resource mobilization functions and development / monitoring of key performance indicators on donor relationship management.6) Maintain and enhance strategic relationships with donors by acting as focal point for key donors; providing regular briefs on major organizational developments to donors; ensuring donor websites and social media accounts provide timely information to donors, and monitoring and ensuring engagement with donors by other staff within the organization is carried out in a coordinated manner through a focal point system.7) Organizes, supports and represents the organization at donor meetings including annual donor consultations, pledging sessions and other related events.8) Take a lead role to secure core non earmarked voluntary contributions through support to Executive Office appeals, strategic dialogues with donors, bilateral meetings, and regular appeal letters to Member States for core contributions9) Ensures that the outputs produced by the Donor Relations & Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit and of staff with resource mobilization functions in the organization maintain high-quality standards; that reports are clear, objective and based on comprehensive data. Ensures that all outputs produced by the Unit under his/her supervision meet required standards before completion to ensure they comply with the relevant mandates.10) Prepares inputs for the work programme of the Branch/, determining priorities, and allocating resources for the completion of outputs and their timely delivery.11) Carries out programmatic/administrative tasks necessary for the functioning of the Donor Relations & Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit including preparation of budgets, assigning and monitoring of performance parameters and critical indicators, reporting on budget/programme performance, preparation of inputs for results-based budgeting, evaluation of staff performance (PAS), interviews of candidates for job openings and evaluation of candidates.12) Recruits staff for Unit/ taking due account geographical and gender balance and other institutional values.13) Manages, guides, develops and trains staff under his/her supervision.14) Fosters teamwork and communication among staff in the Donor Relations & Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit and across organizational boundaries.15) Represents the Organization at inter-agency meetings, seminars, etc. on substantive-related issues.16) Participates in international, regional or national meetings and provides programmatic/substantive expertise on an issue, or hold programmatic/substantive and organizational discussions with representatives of other institutions.17) Perform other duties as required.
