PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Claims Operations Manager will be responsible for the development of internal and external operational and oversight of procedures within the Claims Team. Lead strategic and risk improvement initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure key operational processes and oversight controls are effectively documented, optimized and implemented and are operating consistently in line with industry, regulatory and company standards.
- Provide active leadership and support for the delivery of the global/regional claim initiatives in country.
- Responsible for implementing and monitoring the key claims compliance controls in country.
- Implement, control and support implementation of global / regional claims policies & procedures in country.
- Developing cost effective and efficient claims processes while meetings the needs of the business and customers – work with stakeholders to undertake process mapping, design and re-engineering to drive efficiency and quality improvement.
- Implement the Global Specialized Function strategy in the country – Recoveries, Fraud, Vendor and Litigation Management etc.
- Review the performance and commercials of the incumbent supply chain against market alternatives and make recommendation to Claim Manager to stay/move/improve.
- Investigate and introduce new suppliers to the claims process where relevant and beneficial to the customer journey.
- Due diligence process in place for all new contracts, signed contracts in place of all vendors - including right of audit clauses, SLA’s and termination and contract reviewed annually.
- Create an operating reporting framework and report claims performance to stakeholders – KPI/metric reporting in place monthly / quarterly and distributed to owners for review and analysis.
- Deputize for Claims Manager where necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree of Commerce or an appropriate specialization
- Insurance Knowledge will be an added advantage
- Data Analytics
- Project Management professional qualifications
- MS office knowledge
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior position within an Insurance Company or a financial institution
- Working experience in a multinational will be an added advantage
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong relationship/management skills.
- Track record of influencing others to deliver on requirements.
- The ability to lead and motivate a team to maximize performance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Accuracy and ability to pay attention to details and good organizational skills
- The ability to analyze information / Reports.
- You will have, as a minimum, an intermediate understanding of MS office programs, including excel.
- You will be able to extract meaningful business insights from granular claims MI to inform and enhance the claims strategy.
- Understand emerging technology capabilities for delivery of claims analytics and seek introduction where appropriate.
