SOUTHERN & EAST AFRICA: CLUSTER COMMS OFFICER An exciting opening has arisen in our Southern & East Africa cluster team for an enthusiastic and committed Communications Officer.
We are looking for someone with extensive experience in the following areas:
- Copy writing and editing in the English language
- Collecting case studies and stories from the field
- Filming & Photography
- Building communications capacity
- Some experience of development work
Tearfund needs to recruit new supporters to enable us to increase our work.We urgently need someone who can help us provide the very best stories of Tearfund's work to our audiences.
The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively ensuring the supply of stories, information, video, posts and images from countries to enable fundraising, mobilising prayer and campaigning from Tearfund's target audience, predominantly in the UK.

You will also be able to encourage and empower others to gather great stories, creating a network of story gatherers in the region. You will be accustomed to working unsupervised and responding to tight deadlines. You will be able to work well with remote colleagues in the UK and other regions.
Applicants require strong English language skills (written and spoken).
We would expect applicants to be able to demonstrate a clear and specific desire and have the right to work in this region. All posts involve potential contact with children and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguardingissues.
Please note: This role requires frequent travel of up to 15-20 weeks a year to the following countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Angola.It is essential that the successful candidate will have the ability to travel to all countries.
This role will be based in-region: Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, or Zimbabwe. Specific country dependent on the successful candidate.
