The Communications Co-Ordinator at The Banda is responsible to the Headmistress and the Director of Communication and Development is expected to work closely with them, the Deputy Head and Senior Leadership Team in order to promote and support the ethos and aims of the School.
Job Definition:
• To utilise public relations, marketing, events and social media expertise to develop, and implement school directed strategies to engage and activate new pupils, parents, supporters, advocates and social media followers.
• To take guidance from and collaborate with the Head Teacher, Director of Communications and Development on Admissions and Marketing opportunities. Additional collaboration with the Head’s PA and Registrar will be required
Responsibilities
• Rapidly acclimatise to The Banda School; thoroughly know the history, culture, traditions and constituencies of the school; understand the educational philosophy; familiarise with all marketing and communication activities and opportunities presenting at the school.
• Support the Admissions and registration process through show rounds and written communication as and when required.
• Arrange taster days for prospective pupils in collaboration with the relevant teaching staff.
• Collate and maintain the Admissions Prospectus for distribution to prospective parents, etc, in collaboration with the Head’s PA and Registrar.
Monitor the website as well as keep the website up-to-date uploading data as requested, eg term dates, school policies, newsworthy stories, etc, in collaboration with the Director of Communications and the Head’s PA and Registrar.
• Maintain and upload photographs on the Gallery section of the website.
• Maintain and upload pupil photographs on an annual basis on iSAMS or termly when new pupils join the school.
• Upload data to the Parent Portal as required and in collaboration with requests from the Senior Leadership Team, Head Teacher or Director of ICT.
• Collate, generate and edit the Weekly Newsletter.
• Take regular photographs and/or video of major or newsworthy events to upload to the Photo Archive for relevant electronic publications in collaboration with the Director of Communications. This will involve some after school and or occasional weekend events, eg Netball Tournament, HAK gymkhana, vocal festival, etc. All external after-school or weekend events would be known in advance. Take all team photographs in collaboration with the PE Department.
• Demonstrate proficient use of Adobe applications.
• Collate and update the photographic consent spreadsheet and distribute to all relevant staff.
• Be familiar with the photographic consent data school roll for pupils that cannot be involved in website/social media environments and share this information with any person/s requesting photographs where you can manage and ask the reasons for such photographs making the decision, in collaboration with Director of Communications and Head’s PA and Registrar.
• Maintain and oversee the online storage of photographs.
• Research annually competitor’s school fees in collaboration with the Head Teacher, Director of Communications or a request from Governance.
• Support, maintain and upload digital communications to social media sharing relevant comments, videos and photographs with commentary where possible on a regular basis in collaboration with the Director of Communication and Development.
• Research and present opportunities for marketing initiatives locally, eg exhibitions and fairs that advance The Banda School and drive increased engagement with prospective parents and feeder kindergartens.
• Maintain, target and research new (as well as existing relations) with feeder kindergartens and companies that may include occasional visits to introduce The Banda School in collaboration with the Director of Communications, Head’s PA and Registrar and Head Teacher.
• Provide administrative support and maintain a marketing presence (as requested) at a number of school events including The Banda Netball Tournament, The Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament, HAK Gymkhana, The Under 7 Football Tournament, Open Morning, Speech Day, etc, in collaboration with the primary member of staff organising the event. You must be prepared to attend events out of normal working hours when required.
• Collate the annual orders of school exercise books and oversee distribution throughout the year in collaboration with the relevant member of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Collect and receipt monies as required, eg Charity days, Red House Books, School plays, trips, etc. • Manage the main notice boards in the school.
• Be prepared to be flexible and stand-in as the ‘front of house’ in the absence of the Head’s PA. This will include acting as ‘front of house’ at lunch time on a daily basis in collaboration and at the discretionary request of the Head Teacher and Head’s PA and Registrar.
• Undertake any other administrative responsibilities in respect of your employment as required by the Head Teacher.
• Order and restock all branded merchandise.
