CONTRACT DURATION:7 (Seven ) months with possibility of extension

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Organizer is responsible for supervision and management of assigned projects which include the supervision of program staff under him/her and activities in the field under the supervision of the Programs Manager in order to achieve desired program outcomes within the limits of the validated Project Proposals and Budgets:
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager the Community Organizer is expected to deliver on the following roles:
• Support the program manager in all aspects of the program implementation in Marsabit;
• Undertake community based activities including mobilization, public education, commodity distribution, etc;
• Participate in the oversight of all activities implemented in the area of intervention and ensure the activities are monitored and delivered to high quality standards;
• Support monitoring and evaluation of various activities and projects in concert with the MEAL team including overseeing data collection;
• Initiate and manage community accountability activities through continual engagement with community representatives;
• Support the preparation and the launch of activities when required by scheduling meetings and follow ups;
• Identify potential partnerships in the area of intervention to implement programs, make recommendations on how to fill gaps to the Program Manager;
• Ensure guidance and direction for effective planning, implementation and monitoring of agreed plans in the field;
• Attend program meetings with community leaders in Marsabit partners and to specific working groups as requested or as necessary;
• Coordinate with the Programs Coordinator and Head of Mission to reach new areas and new potential beneficiaries and plan to organize community engagement activities;
• Assist in the recruitment process for daily workers when needed;
• Disseminate information regarding the project, the activities and the available services provided by SIF;
• Prepare and update regularly the list of NGO partners and the services provided in Marsabit County.
• Maintain regular contacts with community focal points to ensure constant flow of information and feedback;
• Establish Community Child Protection Committees in the area of intervention and train and support them as SIF guideline;
• Attend weekly meetings with field staff and Program Manager in the field and office;
• Refer cases to the referral focal point along the established and approved referral pathways in order to provide them with needed services;
• Contribute to establish the program planning in the area of intervention;

REPORTING
• Ensure daily proper recording of data (people reached, activities delivered, etc);
• Centralize all information gathered in the field and consolidate a weekly report (into the proper reporting format) to be delivered to the Project Manager;
• Weekly Narrative Report, which includes actions taken, number activities conducted awareness-raising activities;
• Contribute to compilation of the final project reports.
Any additional related tasks requested by the line manager

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• University degree in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, Development Studies, Community Health, or any related Social Science field;
• Relevant experience of at least 3 years with national or international NGO;
• Awareness of various International Human Rights instruments;
• Knowledge of various standards and principles governing humanitarian work is an advantage;
• Good interpersonal skills and strong cross-cultural communication are essential;
• Ability to lead and work within a team;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Strong organizational and work planning skills and the ability to work in a high volume work environment;
• Excellent command of English and Kiswahili (speaking and writing);
• Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office, especially MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and Email communication;
• Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues, proven problem solving and organizational skills.
• Thorough with attention to detail.
