UN Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP’s mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP Africa Office’s Communication and Outreach Unit communicates UN Environment's core messages to all stakeholders and partners, raising environmental awareness and enhancing the profile of UNEP in Africa.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Communication and Outreach Unit, the Consultant will provide technical and operational support and will play a critical role in the implementation of UN Environment Programme related activities.
- Writing stories, articles, Op-Eds, reports, speeches for both web and print.
- Revising, rewriting content for communication and outreach material including brochures, leaflets, booklets as well as offering comments to improve the work.
- Researching writing various topics and projects undertaken by UNEP in Africa region.

Job Requirements
Required education
: Bachelor's degree

Required relevant work experience
: 5 years

Required languages:
English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
