The PositionThe position is domiciled in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics in the Faculty of Health Sciencies, under the Center for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (CEMA) at the University of Nairobi.Duties and ResponsibilitiesContribute to the design of studies, implementation and reporting of epidemiological dataExtract, organize, store and catalogue large health datasets from multiple sourcesConduct data wrangling processes on large and complex health and healthrelated datasetsDevelop dashboards to visualize trends in health dataImplement applied epidemiological modelling techniques (statistical, geospatial) to help provide insights in disease transmission and interventions to control and eliminate diseasesMentor undergraduate students and recent graduates taking internships at CEMAJob SpecificationsBachelor's degree in Statistics, Geographical Information Systems, Economics, or Actuarial ScienceDemonstrated experience developing high quality dashboards in R (provide links to deployed apps)Demonstrated experience working with health and health related data (provide links to GitHub accounts showing completed projects)Demonstrated possession of quantitative skills (statistical analysis and/or modelling)Experience working within academic settings and linked to addressing policyrelevant analytical questionsExcellent computer skills and familiarity with R statistical softwareExcellent communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skillsTenure and Terms of AppointmentThe tenure of this job is one (1) year; appointment is on contract which can renewed based on performance, mutual agreement and the project period.
