Regulate and guide physical development in Tatu City by reviewing architectural and development proposals.
Ensure compliance with zoning, planning regulations, building codes, and city guidelines.
Align development with the city's vision for sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality urban environments.
Review building plans and applications for planning acts, building codes, setbacks, parking, fire protection, ventilation standards and other parameters compliance.
Participate in formulation and revision of design guidelines.
Conduct site inspections during construction and prior to occupancy to confirm compliance.
Prepare technical reports on behalf of developers and property owners for statutory approvals.
Engage internal teams, developers, consultants, and regulators to process applications efficiently and uphold standards.
Support DCC design reviews and provide architectural input for DCC or city projects Manage escalations related to non-compliance or deviations through structured documentation and engagement.
Participate in technical workshops, DCC pre-submission meetings, and stakeholder forums.
Evaluate unconventional or modern proposals for contextual fit within planning controls.
Stay up to date with building codes, urban design practices, green architecture, and masterplans.
Lead and mentor junior team members and coordinate compliance efforts across departments.
RequirementsSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in architecture, Urban Design, or related field from a recognized institution.
Registered Architect with BORAQS.
Minimum 7 years' experience in architectural practice, with experience in design review, planning control, or development regulations.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp, and related review software.
Deep understanding of local Kenyan building codes, zoning and planning regulations, and urban design principles.
Familiarity with interpreting masterplans, environmental impact assessments, and multi-use development proposals.
Experience in site planning, massing evaluation, and mixed-use development assessments.
Strong knowledge of design excellence and parameters including but not limited to: Plot ratio (FAR) calculations, Setbacks and building lines, GFA/GBA/Building footprint differentiation, Site coverage limits, Natural ventilation requirements, Fire safety integration within architectural design Understanding of accessibility requirements including but not limited to; Wheelchair access, Disabled washrooms, Universal design standards ·Ability to interpret and enforce parking standards across various land uses: Residential (low and high density), Commercial, Office, Schools and industrial
