A top-notch high-end school in Western Kenya offering IGCSE/British Curriculum system and is looking for a DEPUTY PRINCIPAL who should be exceptional persons to be part of its leadership teamThe job holder will help the Principal establish an extremely strong and vibrant school culture consistent with the schools’ core culture principles. However, the primary focus will be teacher development and assist the principal in deputizing on administration matters

Main Purpose of the post
To assist in providing and leading the strategic direction for the School in line with the whole school vision and development plan and as directed by the Principal.

To ensure that the standards of teaching, learning and attainment in all areas of school life within the School reflect the school’s mission of providing the best of IGCSE/British Curriculum system

Responsibilities

A) Strategic Direction and Development of the School – in co-operation with, and under the direction of, the Principal to:Create a clear Vision and Positive ethos for the future of the School, which embraces the purpose, mission and strategic targets set in the school’s mission and as detailed in the school development plan;

Create, Implement and keep under review a School Improvement Plan, that contributes to the Whole School Development Plan, to ensure that appropriate priorities and targets for the improvement of pupils’ learning, are identified and the necessary resources are clearly allocated;

Ensure all Teaching Staff are committed to the school’s aims, and are motivated and involved in the achievement of the priorities and targets;

The job holder will help the Principal establish an extremely strong and vibrant school culture consistent with the schools’ core culture principles. However, the primary focus will be teacher development and assist the principal in deputizing on administration matters;

B) Teaching and Learning – to:

Promote and maintain an environment within the School that secures high standards of planning, organisation, teaching, learning, behaviour and achievement;

You will build a talent base of staff fired up to give quality results as per expectations of the stakeholders. You will be involved in the overall disciplinary issues for both staff and students.

Implement the IGCSE/British Curriculum system in a way that is relevant to the needs of the pupils and enables all pupils to achieve

Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning standards and achievements for all pupils in the school;

Maintain and develop the School’s extended curriculum and extra-curricular programme in collaboration with the Co-curriculum coordinator;

C) Leading and Managing staff – to:

Ensure the professional duties of all teachers and teaching assistants within the School, as defined in the terms and conditions of staff contracts, are fulfilled;

As Deputy Principal, you will play a critical role in realizing this aspiration by leading teacher coaching and development at this school and co-leading on school culture together with the Principal

Plan, allocate, support and evaluate work undertaken by groups, teams and individuals within the School, ensuring clear delegation of tasks and devolution of responsibilities;

Ensure systems are in place for the performance management of School teaching staff and that their effectiveness is frequently monitored;

Develop open and honest relationships with all staff, pupils and parents, providing information, support and objective advice as appropriate;

Drawing on support from instructional leaders on the schools’ network team, you will create a professional development;

D) Effective deployment of staff and resources – to:

Monitor and review deployment of teaching staff such that the learning needs of groups and individual pupils are met;

Work with the Principal to ensure the recruitment of School teaching staff are of the highest calibre;

Lead, co-ordinate and monitor the Continuing Professional Development of School teaching staff, including support;

Assist in managing the school physical environment efficiently and effectively ensuring the school is a safe, healthy and attractive place for learning;

You will deliberate practice routines and management habits that stretch teachers professionally and give them higher quality, more intensive coaching than they can get anywhere else;

E) Accountability – to:

Work closely with the school Principal to ensure that all expectations, standards, procedures and systems are built on throughout the school and provide a natural progression for pupils and staff between the two schools;

Work closely with the school Principal, and the Administration Staff on all operational matters related to the smooth running of the primary facilities of the school;

Provide information, objective advice and support to the school Principal to enable him/her meet his/her responsibilities;

Continue to develop school culture whereby all staff recognize that they are accountable to the success of the school;

Ensure that parents and pupils are well informed about the curriculum, attainment and progress towards their targets;

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a Bachelor of Education Degree or a general degree with a PGDE

Must be registered with TSC and in good standing

Must have served as a teacher for at least than 5 years some of which in a senior position and demonstrated a high degree of professionalism, commitment and integrity

Experience in private school offering IGCSE/British curriculum will be an added advantage
