Job Description
MamaToto is an early stage social enterprise that provides modern cloth diapers and laundering services across all income levels in Nairobi, Kenya. These diapers improve sanitation and lead to less disease while saving the environment from disposable diaper waste. Parents in Nairobi rely on handwashing cloth diapers and generally lack the proper facilities to fully sanitize the diapers and outdoor space to dry the diapers. Parents will register for diapers and laundry service via our website, app, USSD coding, or convenient kiosk and schedule the quantity, size, and delivery/pickup of their needed cloth diapers. They will choose between home pickup/delivery or a convenient kiosk drop /pickup point.
MamaToto is looking for a strong logistics and operations person to join at the early stages of MamaToto and help launch the product and establish standard operations. We have finalized our prototype, sorted our supply chain, and established major partnerships for manufacturing, transportation, and laundering. We are completing our last test group in a few weeks and plan a soft launch for April/May 2020. This position will mainly focus on logistics and transportation and will be a key part of the senior leadership team building MamaToto.
Objective:
Create operational excellence via logistics and transportation systems and implement technology solutions that create efficiency and promote scalability.
Logistics
- Establish operations for a full-order cycle
- Create standard operating procedures for laundering services, health and safety, andquality control
- Oversee daily laundering operations
- Manage relationship with Nairobi Hospital
- Think long-term about expansion
- Work with senior leadership to create systems for kiosks (laundry drop/pickup points)
- Coordinate with senior leadership on how to improve customer experience
- Focus on reducing logistical and transportation costs
- Establish systems to track quantity, stock levels, delivery times, and transport costs and analyze to improve processes
- Hire, supervise, coach, and train logistics team
Transportation
- Integrate MamaToto orders with transportation partner’s system
- Create systems and standard procedures for transportation with transportation partner
- Manage relationship with transportation partner
- Work with transportation partner to improve efficiency
Technology
- Integrate website, app, USSD orders into laundering and transportation services
- Implement tech solutions for tracking orders through laundering and transportation
- Long-term planning for subscription service (how handle recurring subscription)

- Education – University degree
- Ability to lead and manage staff
