Position: Director of Education
Location: Nairobi
Job description
Africa Gospel Church, Kenya is one of the evangelical denominations in Kenya with its Headquarters in Karen, Nairobi.
The church is recruiting a competent Director of Education who will be responsible for sponsored schools’ services as well as training of servant leaders for the Church and the society.
The Director of Education is a leadership position at Africa Gospel Church, Kenya Central Office. The person shall be responsible for the overall management of the educational and leadership training ministries of AGC-Kenya and collaborating with stakeholders in enhancing administrative structures of existing sponsored schools as well as in establishing new institutions of learning. The position also provides overall leadership of AGC Theological Training Institutes and Capacity building in the church.
Responsibilities
The person required for the above position shall perform the following duties:
To oversee theological and ministry training institutions in the Africa Gospel Church.
To oversee all the education, chaplaincy and spiritual matters in AGC sponsored schools and Institutions both private and public and enhance academic and professional competence in the selection and training of personnel.
To oversee leadership training programs and development of ministry training intitutions in the Africa Gospel Church.
To develop and ensure implementation of all educational and leadership development related policies.
To undertake research on leadership training needs, design curriculum and implement appropriate leadership training programs
To oversee development of church sponsored activities in schools such as Sponsor’s Day
To mobilize training and leadership resources to provide scholarships for developing leaders in different sectors of the church
To oversee and supervise the work of all AGC Regional Education Directors
To ensure all AGC Schools have properly functional Boards of Management with the church fully represented
To identify, develop and oversee a suitable curriculum to disciple and mentor emerging leaders
To oversee early identification, recruitment and admission into theological and leadership training opportunities for strategic AGC personnel
To ensure all AGC sponsored schools operate within the denominational education policy and in line with requirements of the Ministry of Education and the laws of Kenya
To work with communities and churches in resource mobilization and in establishment and registration of new schools
To develop a mechanism for approval of appropriate training institutions for AGC personnel
To establish networks and partnerships on best practices in management of sponsored schools
To oversee and design implementation process of all core courses for pastors and leaders being prepared for specific tasks and responsibilities within AGC
To be the the primary denominational link on matter education and workclosely with the ministry of education, its related sectors, and Para-Church organizations in advancement of AGC sponsored schools.
Any other duty as may be assigned by the Bishop or Assistant Bishop
Qualifications
– Passion for education, sponsored school services, and church leadership training
– Strong writing, public speaking and leadership skills
– Self-motivated and driven to work within demanding situations.
– Initiative and the ability to work as part of a team.
– Evidence of holy living
– MUST be born again
A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Education with emphasis on Educational Administration & Planning or Bachelor’s degree in Theology with Diploma in Education
Experience in teaching, educational leadership or related educational and leadership training in the Church.
