Our client is an Embassy looking for an Accounts and Protocol Officer to be responsible for preparing Embassy accounts and assisting in coordination of protocol services between the Embassy and other embassies and authorities.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts
• Preparation of monthly Embassy accounts.
• Accurate accounts system administration in consultation with management.
• Planning and budget control.
• Preparation of Embassy financial reports.
• Payment of Embassy invoices and liaison with service providers, which may include assisting with the negotiation of new contracts.
• Management of petty cash transactions.
• Helping to maintain contact databases.
Protocol
• Assisting in drafting correspondence to Governments of Kenya Sudan, Somalia, and Eritrea and to other parties as necessary.
• Coordinate the provision of protocol services between the Embassy and other embassies and authorities.
• Coordinate with key stakeholders to facilitate protocol arrangements for high-level visits and diplomatic rotations.
• Logistical support for official visits to and from state country (may include arranging bilateral meetings, local transportation, accommodation, etc.)
• Assisting with Embassy functions and cultural events.
Others duties as required from time to time and directed by the Ambassador and line manager as necessary. This may include providing cover as necessary when other staff are absent.
Key skills and competencies required
• Previous relevant experience, including of book-keeping and accounts management.
• Prior experience in a diplomatic mission and of protocol issues is a bonus.
• Proven numerical, administrative and organisational skills
• Excellent communication, writing and reporting skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• The ability to multitask, be reliable and demonstrate excellent attention to detail;
• Self-motivated, reliable and flexible
• Fluency in English
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team and under pressure;
• The successful candidate must have a legal entitlement to live and work in Kenya prior to recruitment.
Desirable Requirements
Prior experience in a diplomatic mission and of protocol issues is essential.
Terms and conditions
The successful candidate will be initially employed on a two-year contract. A probationary period of 6 months will apply.
Police security clearance and extensive reference checks will be sought for individuals who are considered for appointment.
