The Metis team is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Events & Community Building intern for a start-up education ecosystem building organization in Nairobi, Kenya.Reporting to the Programs and Partnerships Manager, you will spearhead the community building and collective learning opportunities at Metis. This will include virtual and in-person events (COVID safety permitting) for both Fellows and the border Metis community.
Responsibilities
What You Will Do? Design and host quarterly learning opportunities: How might we support education innovators to learn from, problem-solve, and collaborate with each other? This is the question you will tackle through the design and implementation of 4 events in 2021. Specific themes and event objectives will be up to your discretion based on data from Fellows and the community. You will lead the operations, communication strategy, design, and reflection on all events.
? Support Fellowship Events: Help in designing and implementing a virtual finalists day that will help us select the most impactful group of education leaders from across Kenya to participate in the Metis fellowship. Support Programs Manager with an additional Fellowship events.
? Lead the pilot of CelebratED: Design and pilot CelebratED, with support from the Programs and Partnerships Manager and Executive Director, to celebrate education innovation across Kenya. This was an event postponed in 2020 due to COVID. Concept note here, but very open to iteration given the challenges and opportunities of the last year.
? Hustle: We are a lean start-up with an “all hands on deck” approach, so your skills will be tapped for various special projects as necessary and your leadership will shape the culture of the organization.
