Job Description

Reporting to: Regional Officer
Key Relations: Small scale farmers, Quality controllers, Post-harvest supervisor

Duties & Responsibilities

• Champion the implementation of the organizations strategic plan through teaching and developing small scale farmers’ agronomic skills.
• Provide input on production planning for the assigned areas.
• Lead product training process for small scale farmers in the assigned areas.Conduct specific demonstrations for every product in the assigned area of
operations in line with the production strategy.
• Inform management on any emerging issues (opportunities and threats) in your area of operations
• Ensure timely preparation, updating and submission of various production reports.
• Prepare pre-planting plans and ensure pre-planting is done within the stipulated timelines.
• Prepare and implement planting programs within groups and for individual farmers as per agreed planting budget.
• Constitute and lead flower committees in all groups that shall implement and monitor the production calendar and its key activities.
• Ensure we achieve agreed conversion rates for flower varieties for all plantings to marketable products of high grades as recommended by production management.
• Draw up a list of farmers to plant off season and their planting and production budgets.
• Give weekly and monthly production projections.
• Recommend opening of new collection centers to the Regional Officers and closure of seasonal collection centers on monthly basis.
• Maintain active farmer groups with all pillars of group governance i.e. Group constitution, Group Leadership, Record keeping and group meetings.
• Scout growers farms at least 10 growers per day, 50 per week offering high quality technical support to farmers in groups to achieve high productivity, quality and low
production costs as per company targets
• Disseminate, implement and monitor progress and compliance to company policies in key areas of production and environmental management.
• Communicate, Mobilize and convene growers meetings within areas of operations including writing the minutes for the meeting.
• Coordinate beneficiaries in a seed/bulb multiplication site and ensure effective management in line with Company objectives.
Key Performance Indicators

• Planting conversion rate.
• High quality flowers based on grades produced.
• Well informed Farmers.
• Farm visits.
• Increased and consistent production as per the budget.
• Controlled off season production.
• Updated and accurate Farmers’ Records.
• Timely submission and accuracy of production reports.
• Coordinated harvesting and flowers purchases.
• Recruitment of new farmers and retention of existing farmers.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in horticulture/Agriculture.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience.
• Valid Riding license.
• Computer literacy
• Fluent Communicator English & Kiswahili.
• Certificate of good conduct.
