Location:Nairobi.

Feed the Children in conjunction with County Department of Health Services seeks to implement a project in Nairobi-Viwandani ward- aimed at improving food and nutrition security of pregnant & lactating women as well as women with children less than 5 years.
This will be achieved through promotion of health and nutrition education messages using the Care Group model.
The model represents an effective Behavior Change Communication strategy for promoting equitable beneficiary contact capable of producing measurable changes in health and nutrition indicators.

The Care Group Supervisor will be responsible for training and supervising the Promoter(s) on behavior change by providing Health & Nutrition information & technical support, facilitate and organize participatory learning sessions for Promoters under directions of the Area program coordinator with technical support from Manager in the Food and Nutrition Pillar.

Key Responsibilities.
• Coordinates with project partners, project staff, and County Department of Health Services and other stakeholders on upcoming community and regional-level activities and needs.
• Responsible for the performance and professional development of promoters who report to him/her.
• Ensure quality facilitation and delivery of Essential Hygiene Actions/ Essential Nutrition Actions modules through care groups model.
• Reviews flip charts lesson plans with promoters once per month and ensures they understand the information well and can teach the information in a participatory manner.
• Collects promoter monthly reports, reviews the reports and ensures the information presented is reasonable and complete.
• Prepares a monthly report using the information provided by promoters.
• Maintains a filling system in the project office to ensure copies of the promoters’ reports, supervisor’s reports and quality improvement and verification checklist (QIVCs) are easily accessible.
• Supervises each of the promoters reporting to him/her in the field, at least twice per month, and conducts QIVCs and completes all sections of the promoter supervision check list every quarter.
• Liaises with the appropriate people in a timely and professional manner to ensure that financial, logistic and procurement issues required to implement project activities are dealt with and the promoters and CGVs have supplies necessary to do their jobs. (Flip charts, registers).
• Cultivate and maintain good working relations with local communities and government representatives.
• Assist in project review and documentation of lessons learnt for wider dissemination.
• Prepare a monthly work plan and shares with the coordinator.
• Attend Nutrition forums at the county and sub county levels.
• Coordinate and Participate in project assessments and evaluations carried out in the program area as directed by the immediate supervisor.
• In liaison with the sub-county department of health services, participate and support community health strategy activities and ensure adequate reporting and linkages with the link health facilities.
• Ensure timely preparation of regular monitoring reports on on-going activities and timely submission and verification of reports.
• Participate in national nutrition campaigns such as Malezi Bora campaigns and thematic days celebrations in the program area.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or related discipline.
• Broad understanding of food security issues in both rural areas and urban informal settlements.
• Good knowledge of conceptual framework of malnutrition.
• Experience in nutrition surveys and assessments.
• Competence in analytical computer software data analysis, writing and communication skills.
• Must have excellent documentation, communication, and analytical skills.
• An understanding of behavior change communication models/ approaches is an added advantage.
• Must be registered with the Kenya Nutrition and Dietetics Institute (KNDI).
