The Regional Bureau in Nairobi (RBN) provides strategic guidance, policy/technical support and direction to WFP operations and activities in nine countries: Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda.
JOB PURPOSE
To perform and apply appropriate processes, procedures and policies that support the efficient and effective food quality and safety services including:
Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) management within WFP Supply Chain
Supplier Quality Assurance management
FSQ Lead auditing skills
Incident management and root cause analysis methodologies
FSQ in Food Fortification, School Meals programme, Cash Based Transfers
System continual improvement tools, e.g. Statistical process control, Total Quality Management in Supply Chain
FSQ awareness training

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Currently enrolled in the university and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies; currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master's degree) from a recognized university; or have graduated from a university undergraduate or graduate programme within the last 6 months preferablyin Food Science and Technology, Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Food Engineering, or any other related field.

Fluency in English (both oral and written) is a must; knowledge of a second UN language, preferably French, would be an asset

Full proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint) and ERP systems

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

What you will do:
Analytical data collation and analysis from Inspection Company for different commodities which will also become basis for supplier performance evaluation
Collating Aflatoxins analytical data from Blue Box which will be basis for evaluating the effectiveness of WFP initiatives in managing mycotoxins in the region
Reviewing all commodity inspection reports and advising procurement and food technology division for action
Verifying gaps in testing methodologies which will ensure Inspection Company adhere to the validated methods
Follow up on open actions with Inspection Company
Managing incidents by ensuring all information needed, including traceability, is available and reports generated for the Regional Bureau

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (continued)

Collating all incidents from Country Offices and preparing trend charts and follow up on root cause analysis
Responding to urgent Country Offices' needs and liaising with Food Technology division. if need be, where escalation is required e.g verifying specifications, reviewing food quality reports and establishing available local regulatory requirements, etc.
Working closely with Procurement to ensure food quality and safety information is accurately captured in tenders and contracts
Responding to other functions' needs whenever guidance from FSQ unit is needed
Supporting in reviewing level of implementation of FSQ procedures
Prepare monthly incidents, Food Release Status Report and any other reports, as may be advised from time to time, for all commodities in collaboration with the technical team
Handling other FSQ matters when called upon to do so

Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP depending on the duty station of assignment (i.e. Nairobi)
