Job Purpose
A front-end developer is a technical role that is responsible for implementing visual elements that users and customers see and interact with in a web application. Front-end developers focus on the visual layout, user interface/interaction, and user experience. They create components and features that are directly accessed by a user through the front-end of a website.
The role requires prototyping skills, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work as part of an agile team combining the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. Working with the UI/UX designer to bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works and to be hands on in supporting implemented technologies.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Systems Development
Work closely with the design team, product management, and development teams to create elegant, usable, responsive and interactive interfaces across multiple devices.
Support and Problem Management
Provide 3rd Level support for escalated issues from the IT Service Desk and IT Applications Teams.
Support, maintain and audit existing service lifecycle artefacts, to agreed SLAs
Process and Policies
Adherence to internal policies and procedures for the development and management of Stanbic Development Platforms and Source Code repositories along ITIL and other best practice standards
Governance
Enforce internal policies and procedures for the management of Software Applications along ITIL and other best practices.
Stakeholder Management
Advise internal customers on technology improvements that will ensure realization and maximization of business objectives
Preferred Qualification and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT Applications development and Integration within a highly digitized organization designing, implementing and managing mission critical systems.
• Hands on experience in advanced JavaScript libraries, client-side scripting and frameworks, such as AngularJS, ReactJS etc, including JQuery
• Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
• Solid experience in using and implementing complex REST API from the client-side and understanding of industry standard formats and protocols (JMS, SOAP, XML/XPath/XQuery, REST and JSON)
• Experience using Source Code Management & versioning tools e.g. Git, BitBucket
• Exposure to Continuous Integration/Delivery pipeline for cloud, including Jenkins, SonarQube, Docker, etc.
• A good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and Ajax
• Issue/bug tracking tools e.g. JIRA
• Testing Automation and practical experience of testing tools like Webpack, Jasmine, Karma, etc.
