General Surgeon

Requirements :

Bachelor's Degree in General Surgery from a recognized learning institution.

Registered, licensed and retained by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

At least two years working experience as a graduate.

Responsibilities

Briefing the immediate supervisor, all concerns associated with the success, program, challenges and suggestions in the healthcare service delivery docket

Start the Ward rounds between 9:00 am - 9:30 am always with the possibility of adjusting with flexibility the time factor according to needs assessment.

Manage patients under in line with the medical standards.

Facilitating and allocating duties to clinicans on duty in ward.

Communicate with the patients about their condition and management or with the immediate family if the patient is unable to comprehend within the scope of their knowledge and experience.

Arrange for and obtain the results of investigations. theatre bookings and consultations.

Maintain medical records of the inpatients in a clear fashion, aiming to include both a daily management plan and discharge plan for each patient.

Communicate and coordinate with the multi-professional team in regard to management plans, diagnostic requests and consultations.

Ensure effective discharge planning occurs with involvement of the patient, family and/ or other health care providers.

Complete discharge summaries in a timely fashion, with adequate information for post admission CAM.

Assist in teaching of nursing students clinical officer interns as required.

Involvement in out of hours on duty/ on call rosters as required by the Department or by Clinical Service.

Report and follow up the departmental needs, challenges and suggestions to the hospital administrator or enhance efficiency, effectiveness, accountability and proper coordination of healthcare provision.
