REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSAND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Master’s degree in Business related field (MBA Preferred)
• CPA (K) or ACCA required.
• At least 7 years’ experience in Accounting/Finance and Grants Management
• Experience managing grants, subcontracts, procurement and compliance with donor regulations;
• Previous experience with a grants management system preferred
• Experience in pre- funding assessment of CSOs and proposal review;
• Experience developing manuals and tools for grant and sub-grant management
• Experience managing statutory and donor audits (Global Fund grant management preferred)
Demonstrated high proficiency levels of Navision ERP system and other accounting packages
• Substantive experience working in the NGO sector dealing with multiple donor funds and meeting different donor reporting requirements
• Proven management experience in supervision of staff in cross functional teams.
• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact effectively with others, both internally and externally.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Responsibilities

Grants Management
• Monitor program budgets and expenditure and coordinate with Program managers and ensure effective program.
• Train and provide assistance to all SIF sub grantees and resolve all tax and administrative issues and recommend improvements to various systems.
• Monitor and analyze all grants/project performance and make recommendation for performance improvements.
• Administer grant records and evaluate financial reports to analyze all annual progress and perform review on grant expenditure
• Maintain a broad and deep understanding of relevant donor policies, regulations and procedures
• reviews grants applications, proposals, agreements and related grants data and ensures the accuracy of information in the grants system/database
• Reviews grants-related activities for accuracy, completeness and compliance with Amref Health Africa and grantor policies and procedures.
• provides follow up on any issues identified during the monitoring and review process and assists with training and capacity building efforts
• support development of budgets for new proposals as well as financial accounting related functions as required
• Maintains complete, accurate and up-to-date filing and tracking systems.
Sub-Grant Management
• Co-ordinates programs/Project in reviewing eligibility assessment of prospective grantees: ensure that grant review and award processes is in line with Amref grants policies and procedures
• Lead in the development of Sub Recipient capacity building plans and development of Training materials.
• Supervise Grants Management Information System update and Maintenance.
• Provide technical support in the preparation of Sub-Recipients Manual and Contracts
• Reviews all proposed sub grants budgets prior to submission to ensure consistency with the organisation and donor policies
• Performs financial monitoring of grant activities, reviews financial reports submitted by partners and generates timely internal and external financial and related reports
Human Resources management
• Foster good teamwork and provide effective Leadership within grants department.
• Identify Grants staff development needs and provide coaching and mentoring, as well as link to training and development opportunities, to spur performance.
Policy Advocacy
• Lead in the Formulation and review of grant policies and procedures
Audit Coordination (external & Internal) Compliance and Risk
• Collaborate with staff and board members; prepare internal reports for same and submitted status reports to management team as required.
• Oversee the review by compliance and Audit team and support the grants staff in the implementation of the recommendation.
• Analyze all processes, provide enhancements to all grant programs if required and manage all grant management processes according to policies and procedures.
• Identify, mitigate and report Finance and support services risks.
Business development and organizational growth
• Lead in partner (CBO &NGO) capacity assessments and capacity development strategy
• Lead Manager, Amref’s Organizational Development System Strengthening (ODSS) programme
• Provide support to business development unit and programmes in funding proposal development and social enterprise programmes
