The Ol Pejeta Conservancy (OPC) – a leading wildlife conservancy that works to conserve wildlife, provides a sanctuary for great apes and to generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises for reinvestment in conservation and community development is seeking applicants in the position of Head of Grants Finance
Responsibilities
1. Grants Financial Management and Reporting:
a) Participate in grant proposal development, budgets and extensions, by providing technical support in development of grant budgets that are in line with effective implementation of grants, donor requirements and organisation policy
b) Collaborate project setup activities between finance and fundraising team; assist with project budget template formation and upload of budgets into Infor10 SunSystems.
c) Review financial documents, agreements, sub-grantee and related documents regularly to ascertain the level of internal controls in the financial process and compliance thereto.
d) Continuously monitor budget commitments for projects and report on any significant variances.
e) Monitor financial performance for grants and produce reports according to donor reporting requirements.
f) Ensure that various donor regulations are complied with in all grant transactions and processes; keep the CFO informed on all major compliance issues/challenges while taking the necessary corrective steps.
g) Coordinate monthly close out with finance and fund-raising teams and ensure project activities are timely recorded in the appropriate period and supported
in the financial accounting systems
2. Financial Accounting & Management:
a) Generate grant cash flow plans in coordination with the CFO to ensure that
sufficient cash is available for project implementation
. b) Manage preparation,
consolidation and distribution of timely monthly, quarterly and annual
financial statements reflecting status of projects and or programs on
grant-to-date basis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
(GAAP) and donor requirements.
c) Maintain accurate financial records on all
project activities and sub-grants.
d) Prepare and submit monthly invoices and
related accounting documents where applicable and oversee the management of
grant receivables.
e) Act as the focal point for any audits and ensure that all
information is audit ready at all times.
f) Support finance team as needed for
donor and statutory audits, and other donor requests. g) Take a leading role in
ensuring that all grant audit queries are responded to in a timely manner and
ensure that any audit recommendations arising from such audits are promptly
implemented.

Required relevant work experience
: 5 years
