The positionThe Aga Khan Primary School, Mombasa is situated along Vanga Road in the serene environment of Kizingo estate. The history of the School dates back to 1918 when the Boys’ Elementary School was established.On the 21st June, 1945, the foundation of the current building was laid and officially opened in June 1951. Aga Khan Primary School has been offering the National Curriculum with emphasis to the provision of a holistic education as well as academic excellence. The School was one of the first schools in the country to introduce computer literacy classes for young children.The Head Teacher will be a visionary leader who will exercise an ethical and moral leadership to develop the school into a School of Choice in Mombasa, improving the positioning of the school in the market by enhancing academic, co-curricular, sports and leadership programmes as well as developing a school culture that emphasizes ethics and values, pluralism, spirituality and excellence.S/he will drive the academic and extra-curricular programmes of the school, provide leadership for the students and staff, monitor performance against targets and quality indicators, and oversee day-to-day operations of the school.Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor of Education, or Science or Arts Degree (Upper Second Class Honors) with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from recognized university.Master of Education Degree in Leadership and Management or curriculum.Working Knowledge of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) curriculum is necessary.5 years of Leadership experience with demonstrable achievements in leading reputable schools.Proven consistency in class work performance.He /She should have published at least one research or journal paper.Experience in Managing school budgeting and finance, including fee collections.He/ She should present evidence of involvement in facilitation and participation of professional development.Should have thorough knowledge of legal aspects of education management especially the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Education, Employment, Children’s and other Acts that relate to education and children.Excellent team building skills, with proven experience in leading, motivating and empowering people.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Key responsibilitiesProvide executive leadership by building a high-performance, culturally diverse team, committed to achieving the vision of the school.School management; to manage the school efficiently and effectively by ensuring compliance in curriculum systems; staff management appraisal; compensation and professional development; students discipline; budget and finance; parental & community relations; school operations among othersProvide policy guidance on relevant issues regarding AKESK and abide by the code of conduct of AKDN and AKESK
