Our client Soma Properties is a leading property developer in Kenya. They are notably recognised for running one of the largest shopping mall in East Africa( The Sarit Centre) which is also a well-renowned hub popular for international exhibitions.
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for developing and implementing Human Resource strategies, policies, procedures and practices that enable the business to deliver its goals.
The Job holder will direct, plan, organize and manage the Human Resource department and its activities, paying particular attention to talent management processes that enable the organization to attract, develop and retain engaged and productive employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, communicate and enforce HR management policies and procedures that reflect promote best practice and are in compliance with the Labour laws, train managers on their application and revise them as necessary.
2. Develop and execute a talent strategy for the identification, development, deployment and retention of talent.
3. Manage and coordinate the staff recruitment and onboarding process and put in place the most effective recruitment strategies to attract and maintain a highly-skilled workforce
4. Manage the appropriate deployment of staff throughout the business through continuous assessment of the manpower needs in the business as well as skill requirement
5. Facilitate employee learning and development by identifying gaps and designing training interventions to redress them. Expected to develop and roll out an annual training program.
6. Lead the implementation of the company’s performance management system based on agreed objectives and measures.
7. Implement a comprehensive reward strategy that enables the organization to attract and retain competent and high performing staff.
8. Manage disciplinary and grievance processes in accordance with the approved policy and in compliance with legal requirements.
9. Maintain harmonious employee relations, social and welfare activities, and employee support programs to create a conducive and respectful workplace and good working relationship between employees
10. Develop and implement systems for managing staff records, including personal data, annual leave and off days, sick leave etc, ensuring that these are kept up to date and adhere to relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
11. Plan and monitor the maintenance of monthly leave schedules and ensure that department heads, managers and supervisors always provide appropriate levels of cover through effective annual leave planning.
12. Ability to run the payroll at the end of the month
13. Monitor and be responsible for the performance management system
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
>Bachelor's degree in Human resources, Social Sciences or equivalent
>Higher National Diploma in Human Resources Management is desired; IHRM membership
>At least eight (8) years’ experience in human resource management, three (3) of which must be in a managerial position
>Talent management expertise.
>Knowledge and working experience with Kenyan Labour laws
