Terms of Service: One Year Internship
The County Government of Embu, Department of ICT and Governor's Delivery Unit is seeking enthusiastic and motivated ICT Interns to join our dynamic team. Roles and Responsibilities:
Software Development:
Assist in the design, development, and testing of software applications.
Participate in coding, debugging, and code review processes.
Collaborate with other developers to implement new features and enhance existing applications.
Document software functionalities, processes, and user manuals.
Provide support in identifying and fixing bugs and performance issues.

ICT Systems Support:
Support the maintenance and administration of ICT systems, including servers, databases, and networks.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.
Assist in the installation, configuration, and updating of system software and hardware.
Help manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
Provide technical support to end-users, resolving issues related to software, hardware, and network connectivity.

Infrastructure Support:
Assist in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ICT infrastructure, including routers, switches, and other network devices.
Support the deployment and management of cloud services and virtualized environments.
Participate in the implementation and monitoring of cyber security measures to protect organizational assets.
Aid in the documentation of infrastructure setups, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
Contribute to the planning and execution of ICT infrastructure projects.

Requirements for Appointment
Educational Background: Recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, and must possess below technical and soft skills

Technical Skills:
Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or similar.
Familiarity with software development tools and environments (e.g., Git, Visual Studio, Eclipse).
Understanding of web development (PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and database management (MSSQL, MySQL etc).
Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network protocols.
Experience or coursework related to cloud computing, virtualization, or cybersecurity is a plus.
Skills in OpenLDAP, and other open source directory access systems will be an added advantage.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document technical processes clearly.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, as well as independently when required.
Adaptability: Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing technical environments.
