What is the opportunity?

Under the guidance of the Lead Engineer, the Junior Level Engineer directly supports Water Mission’s vision of providing safe water and an opportunity to share God’s love with all by performing technical tasks following the Kenya Country Program’s established standards and procedures. This is a full-time position that requires residency in Kitale, Kenya. The position requires frequent travel to remote locations within Kenya and occasionally outside Kenya to carry out assessments, water project construction, installation, troubleshooting, system repairs, or training. A successful Junior Level Engineer will:
Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, donors, volunteers, and the general public Provide technical direction and assistance for technicians, contractors, and volunteers in the field Provide onsite project management in support of approved projects Ensure that all water systems (motorized systems and hand pumps) meet Water Mission standards and are functioning to serve the intended purpose Ensure that all the project generators are serviced at the right time to avoid breakdown Maintain regular contact with supervisors and stakeholders through timely reporting Conduct field inspections and site assessments as needed under the direction of the Lead Engineer and Project Manager Coordinate WASH emergency responses as needed Perform engineering tasks including water hydraulic design calculations, and development of plans, specifications, and structural drawings Conduct engineering fieldwork and design according to the established engineering principles and standards to a high degree of excellence and dependable accuracy Layout and design of water systems including source, pumping, treatment, storage, and distribution Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on time as required by the supervisor Perform assessments in communities, including water quality and quantity testing, survey measurements, and other aspects as required Write proposals and apply for grants Other duties as assigned
What is required?
Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Civil, Chemical, Waste, Electrical or Mechanical required Graduated within the past 2 years with minimum of upper second-class honors Knowledge in the design of solar piped water systems preferred Excellent office computer program skills, i.e., AutoCAD, EPANET, and MS Office Excellent verbal and written communications skills (English & Swahili) Ability to organize personal workload and achieve on time results A strong work ethic Ability and willingness to travelPigiaMe Disclaimer:
