Duties and responsibilities
Work with patients prior to surgery to complete paperwork, and help answer questions or calm fears about surgery.
Monitor a patient's condition during and after surgery.
Select and pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during operation.
Manage the overall nursing care in the operating room to help maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
Educate patients on best practices for recovery, including pain management and keeping wounds clean.
Clean surgical equipment and operating rooms to maintain a sterile environment.
Requirements for Appointment;
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution.
Be in possession of a Higher Diploma in Kenya Registered Peri-operative nursing;
Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya; and
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
