Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC) is a State Corporation established by the Government of Kenya under the Kenya Leather Development Council Order, 2011 (Legal Notice No. 1 14 of 9th September, 201 1), under the State Cor-porations Act (Cap. 4 4 6), Laws of Kenya, to provide leadership and policy direction in regulation, production processing and marketing in leather industry so as to promote equitable development and poverty reduction.
Pursuant to this objective, the Council is seeking to recruit qualified officers for the positions of:
Position : Leather Industrial Development Officer
Reporting to : Director Technical Services
Job Grade : KLDC 6

Job Purpose:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementation of all leather related activities in their areas of jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities:
(i) Promoting production of quality hides and skins;
(ii) Carrying out sensitization on standards on leather products;
(iii) Carrying out training needs assessment in the leather value chain;
(iv) Identification/recruitment of MSMEs to be trained in production of leather and leather products;
(v) Leather sector data collection;
(vi) Carrying out inspection, verification of imports and exports; and
(vii) Promotion of appropriate environmental management in the leather sector;
Job Specification:
For appointment to this grade a candidate must: -
(i) Have Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines:- Leather Technology, Leather Science, Animal Science, Manufacture Science, Material Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(ii) Have a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience;
(iii) Be proficient in computer applications; and
(iv) Fulfill the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.

Interested candidates are expected to fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya. Specifically, they mist obtain and submit with their application, copies of the following:
1. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations
2. Clearance/Compliance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
3. Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority
4. Clearance from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
5. Clearance from recognized Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
Suitably qualified candidates are advised to download and complete the Candidates' Profile and Application Form (from the 'Vacancies' section at www.leathercouncil.go.ke) indicating the Job Reference Number on the Job Application Form and send to (email removed) attaching certified copies of academic certificates and professional qualifications and National ID.
