Bachelor of Laws degree;Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;Current Practicing Certificate from the High Court of Kenya;Membership to the Law Society of Kenya in good standing;Certificate in computer proficiency from a recognized institution; andFulfill the requirements of Chapter 6 of the ConstitutionKRA 1: Work-plans and Budgets.•Participate in developing annual work-plans•Assist in preparation of budgets with a special focus on improving RBA’s legal and regulatory frameworkKRA 2: Statutory Review•Work with other officers to review RBA’s statutory legislation•Participate in review of cross-sectoral laws in order to recommend appropriate amendments.KRA 3: Contract Management.•Assist in legal drafting•Participate in negotiation of contracts, leases, formal agreements and other legal instruments.•Assist in settlement and arbitration of disputes•Participate in cases and legal databases management•Keep record of information on pending and successfully completed prosecutions•Assist in keeping record of any other enforcement actions that may help improve pension industry surveillance capabilities•Assist in monitoring progress of court matters involving the Authority and take any necessary action.•Work with other officers to prepare court pleadingsKRA 4: Intellectual Property•Assist in protecting RBA rights, privileges and interests in intellectual property.•Work with others to protect RBA innovations, processes through registration of patents and copyrights•Take the necessary action to protect and preserve such rights from infringement.KRA 5: Legal Counsel•Assist in developing effective defense strategies, arguments and testimony in preparation for legal proceedings•Participate in reviewing stakeholder complaints•Work with senior officers to conduct field investigations to collect evidence and determine extent of violations against RBA ActKRA 6: Legal Research•Assist in recommending appropriate amendments to pension legislation and statutory instruments•Participate in preparing legal briefs and opinionsKRA 7: Stakeholders•Work with senior officers to liaise with the Attorney General’s Chambers, Registrar General, law enforcement agencies and stakeholders throughout the country in connection with prosecution of offenders•Participate in developing and advancing criminal cases when the violation warrants more severe action.KRA 8: External Lawyers•Assist in keeping a record of all cases handled by external lawyers on behalf of the Authority•Participate in issuing briefs to external lawyers as approved•Assist in reporting on updates of cases handled by external lawyers
