Job Description
Geothermal Development Company (GDC) is 100% state-owned corporation registered under the Companies Act (CAP 486) of the Laws of Kenya. It was incorporated in the year 2008 as a special purpose vehicle to accelerate the development of Geothermal Energy in Kenya under the umbrella of the Ministry of Energy (MoE). GDC is a leader in development of Green Energy.
4. Manager, Infrastructure Development - JOB GRADE GD3 (1 post) JOB NO. 4. REF: GDC/HRP/INFRA/01/2020.
Overall Purpose:-
Reporting to the General Manager, Drilling and Infrastructure: The jobholder will be responsible for designing, planning and development of infrastructure projects to support drilling operations.
(a) Key Responsibilities
i. Providing technical advice on infrastructural development of geothermal fields;
ii. Ensuring project infrastructural planning and execution;
iii. Managing all construction equipment owned and operated by GDC;
iv. Development of projects infrastructure systems to support drilling of geothermal wells;
v. Planning, designing and developing infrastructure (Roads, well pads, power supply systems, water systems, project facilities);
vi. Ensuring implementation of infrastructural on the job safety programs; and
vii. Ensuring compliance to safety and quality management systems.
(b) Job Specifications
i. Have not less than eleven (11) years relevant work experience two (2) years should be in Managerial role;
ii. Be a holder of a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Mechatronics, Electrical, Chemical, Agricultural, Bio Systems, Mining Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
iii. Be a holder of a Professional qualification and Registered Professional by Engineers Board of Kenya or Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board in good standing ;
iv. Have a valid Annual Practicing License from the Engineers Board of Kenya or Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board;
v. Possess a Certificate in Project management skills from a recognized Institution;
vi. Undertaken a leadership course from a recognized institution;
vii. Proficiency in computer applications;
viii. Demonstrate merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and
(c) Competencies
i. Good planning, organizing and coordinating skills
ii. Strong interpersonal, analytical verbal and written skills;
iii. Leadership skills;
iv. Strong communications and presentation skills
v. Negotiation skills;
Terms of service
The appointment will be for a contractual period of five (5) years renewable subject to satisfactory performance and delivery of set performance targets and outcomes. GDC offers competitive salary and benefits commensurate with the standards of excellence that it expects.
