Introduction
CBiT is looking for a marketing and communication expert with the capability of developing a communication strategy for a digital platform project. Reporting to the Deputy Project Manager, the candidate will be responsible for leading the communication and marketing activities of the LIN Platform Project.
Background and Context:
The Center for Business Innovation and Training (CBiT) in collaboration with the East Africa leather consortium has partnered with GIZ to develop a digital platform for the East Africa leather industry. The project is designed to facilitate use of digital technology in shaping the region’s development agenda, and to foster trade.
Responsibilities
• Develop LIN Platform communication and marketing strategy with the Team Lead and other key stakeholders.
• Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services.
• Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization.
• Support national authorities to coordinate LIN Platform technical preparedness/response at international, national and sub-national levels
• Provide inputs for and support the development of LIN Platform communication and marketing strategies, costed plans of action and other relevant documents such as funding proposals, monitoring reports etc.
• Support rapid surveys around knowledge and perceptions and generation of critical data to inform LIN Platform actions.
• Contribute to and support the design, development, pre-testing, production, printing, and dissemination of culturally relevant LIN Platform communication and marketing materials meeting on-ground requirements and quality standards.
• Support the implementation of strategies and plans with a focus on sub-national levels.
• Contribute to the development and organization of training/orientation activities at national and sub-national levels as required.
• Develop strong partnerships with key stakeholders - community groups, leaders and other partners in the community
• Support the development of Partnership Agreements as required.
• Support the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programme activities.
• Support social media marketing, monitoring and lead the management of communication crisis.
• Support the documentation of lessons learned and best practices.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, and maintain a media database.
• Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required
Requirements
? BSc in marketing and communication, journalism, or any other relevant field
? Proven knowledge and experience in developing communication and marketing strategies
? Team spirit; to effectively work with others
? Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders
? Good time-management skills
? Portfolio of marketing and communication projects and with contacts of referees
Preferred
? 5-years’ proven work experience in marketing and communication
? Familiarity with technical marketing and communication issues, and ability to work constructively with communication and marketing teams.
? Knowledge of the East Africa region
