JOB TITLE:MEAL Assistant
LOCATION:Marsabit , Kenya
CONTRACT DURATION:7 (Seven ) months with possibility of extension
START DATE:March 2021
SALARY GRADE:According to SIF’S National Staff Salary Scale

POSITION SUMMARY:
The M&E Assistant will support project planning, monitoring, and evaluation of SIF’s humanitarian activities in Marsabit and share key lessons learnt in line with the organization’s Theory of Social Change. The M&E Assistant will also conduct continuous research to identify program needs to improve program design and measure program impact.
The MEAL Assistant will work in close collaboration with the rest of the departments and under the direct supervision of the MEAL Manager

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the collection, collation, syntheses and dissemination of routine program data, and analyses of trends;
• Support research activities including needs assessments, baseline surveys, end line evaluations and formative assessments for internal and external audiences.
• Assist in development and deployment of various MEAL tools in the process of assessments, monitoring and evaluation;
• Assist in compilation and review of weekly and monthly reports to ensure they are accurate, comprehensive and timely;
• Support the program teams in various projects to carry out all routine monitoring and periodic evaluations;
• Coordinate with the MEAL key partners related to MEAL Data Quality Assurance and beneficiary-output tracking;
• Enter all data accurately and in a timely manner in program trackers;
• Follow up with field program team to ensure various reports to various stakeholders including thematic clusters and County coordination bodies are submitted in a timely manner;
• Support the programs and logistics staff in generating the required data/information as required;
• Maintain an appropriate filling system of received weekly and monthly reports from all the field sites;
• Ensure program folder on the programs server are ordered and up to date;
• Databases: Work with the partners and SIF program Staff to ensure all reports are submitted in a timely manner, updated in relevant databases, and shared with relevant teams;
• Assist the MEAL Manager in the deployment and implementation of the key Core Humanitarian standards in all response programs;
• Ensuring that community accountability including appropriate Feedback, Complaints and response mechanisms (CRM) are in place;
• Maintain and update the Program Recommendations Tracker with input from the relevant programs and operations staff, as well as data coming through CRMs;
• Actively involved in documentation of best practices and success stories to support and promote organizational learning and adoption of good practice;
• Providing support and input for research/studies aimed at continuous quality improvement;
• Prepare program updates, reports and studies for response management and internal information sharing;
• Coordinate SIF’s program data collection and management in accordance with the set minimum standards guidelines.
• Manage the collection, entry, cleaning storage and analysis of all data in Marsabit using Kobo Collect and other online platforms;
• Support data entry activities for the Marsabit sub office;
Others:
• Performs other relevant tasks as assigned by the MEAL Manager.
• Work in close collaboration with in Logistics, admin & Finance teams.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in, Economics, Project Management, Statistics, Development Studies, or any relevant social science from a recognized institution.
• Additional training in M&E-related field will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation of Humanitarian emergency projects.
• Experience in participatory research methods using quantitative and qualitative approaches
• Experience working with donor-funded INGOs, UN bodies, government agencies & other stakeholders;
• Knowledge in Computer skills (MS Package), knowledge of statistical software and/or qualitative data management software will be an advantage as well as experience with mobile data collection software (ODK, Kobo Collect) and knowledge of GIS software is an asset;
• Experience working with vulnerable human populations in insecure environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Excellent written and spoken English and Kiswahili
• Knowledge of the local environment in Marsabit is essential.
