Who we are
St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church was established in Kangemi (Nairobi) in 1985 by the Jesuits of the East African Province.

The Saint Joseph the Worker Development Programmes was established the same year with the aim of managing and coordinating the various development programmes that Jesuits implement in Kangemi. These programmes seek to promote a society free from all forms of discrimination, in which everyone have the opportunity to develop their full potential. Over the years, the Development Programmes has striven to accompany the empowerment processes of the most vulnerable and impoverished persons and communities, survivors of Gender Based Violence, People Living with HIV/AIDs within Kangemi location.

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports to the Programme Manager and works with the respective team leads and is responsible for ensuring the effective design and implementation of the M&E Strategy for the SJDP Programmes (Upendo, Uzima and Technical Secondary School) that is in line with St. Joseph Development Programmes policies and practices. He/she will focus on the development of M&E framework, plan and activity setting for appropriate monitoring and evaluation requirements for SJDP Programmes, and will assume overall responsibility for M&E related data collection, collation, analysis and reporting (internal and external).

The MEAL Coordinator ensures that objective evaluations are managed to assess the SJDP programmes and project relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability of results and that evaluations are carried out in a credible and systematic manner with lessons and recommendations used for programme/project design. This position also manages thematic projects as requested.

Any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:
Degree in Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation or a related field from an accredited academic institution
At least 2 years of operational MEAL experience at Programme level
Proven experience and skills in quantitative and qualitative/participatory research methods and analysis and linking planning to M&E through results-based approaches;
Demonstrated experience with designing logical frameworks/ theory of change (TOC), designing M&E systems, and outcome measurement using qualitative and quantitative approaches;
Experience in designing and writing reports and proposals for donors;
Experience in rendering M&E results using different media/ICT4D tools.
Excellent communication, training/facilitation skills, preferably in data collection methods and tools, and M&E;
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
Advanced computer skills including the use of statistical analysis software (SPSS, STATA, Excel);
Fluent in oral and written English and excellent writing skills;
Ability to work in a challenging environment, under high pressure and ability to cope with tight deadlines;
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
