RequirementsCategory 1 (1 post)For appointment to this position, an applicant must be in possession of the following qualifications:Bachelor of Laws degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya of at least seven (7) years standing or a person with at least ten years' experience in the field of legal education or as a distinguished academic in law;Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.Category 2 (3 posts)For appointment to this position, an applicant must be in possession of the following qualifications:Demonstrated competence in the field of legal education; andMeets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.Job Core Competencies:Professional CompetenceStrategic Leadership and Good Interpersonal Skills;Strategic outlook and strong decision making abilities;Ability to develop and maintain multiple stakeholder partnerships;Excellent written and Oral Communication Skills;Analytical and Negotiation Skills;Good Judgmental Skills;Confidentiality and Integrity;Commitment to Public and Community LifeTime Management and the ability to prioritize work; andResearch and Data Management Skills.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Member of the Tribunal shall:Participate in hearing and determination of all disputes which come before the Tribunal;Carrying out inquiry into the appeals lodged including summoning witnesses, taking evidence and calling for production of books and other documents;Making finding thereupon and notifying parties concerned of the awards, judgements, orders, rulings and decrees issued by the Tribunal;Making rules of the Tribunal with respect to the filing, hearing and disposal of appeals and other matters before the Tribunal; andSupport implementation of the Tribunal's plans and programmes to achieve the Tribunals vision and mission.Provide requisite professional and technical support to ensure that the Tribunal attains a high level of competitiveness and ethical standards in its entire programmes.Undertaking any other duty assigned for the benefit of the Tribunal.
