Job Description
The water treatment plant operator is responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following:
• Operate and maintain the Reverse Osmosis Plant to produce optimum quality and potable water and coordinate all logistics from the central plant to external refilling stations.
• Maintain the treatment plant systems
• Maintain and operate the filtering and chemical treatment processes
• Inspect, service and repair components of the water treatment plant including water intakes, pipes, water storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment controls, circulation pumps,and valves
• Prepare work orders for servicing and repairs
• Inspect the treatment plant systems on a daily basis to ensure effective operations
• Conduct regular inspections of the physical plant.
• Establish a preventative maintenance program
• Maintain the general administration of the water system in order to ensure effective operations.
• Establish preventative maintenance schedules.
• Tests and quality control as per KEBs standards.
• Prepare activity and work order reports.
• Maintain inventories.
• Ensure records are maintained.
Requirement and Qualifications.
• A minimum of a diploma in Chemical engineering/Water processing.
• Water treatment plant operator needs mechanical aptitude and the ability to solve problems intuitively.
• The operator should be competent in mathematics, chemistry and biology.
• Operator must have the ability to apply data to formulas that determine treatment requirements, flow levels and concentration levels.
• Computer knowledge as most RO plants use computerized equipment.
