icipe seeks to recruit a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to complement work within the Human Health Theme, on piloting biorational, cattle-targeted interventions for sustainable control of arthropod vectors of malaria and other diseases of humans and livestock through multi-sectoral stakeholder engagement and community partnerships. The position is tenable at icipe, Kenya, either at icipe Thomas Odhiambo Campus on the shores of Lake Victoria, western Kenya or in one of the field sites once established. The position will be offered for an initial contract of 3 years, which may be renewable subject to continued project needs, funding for the position, and performance of the staff member. The successful candidate will be encouraged to also develop her/his own research portfolio that enhances the work of the Human Health Theme. The post will be full-time for an appropriately qualified candidate. A competitive and generous compensation package will be offered to the right candidate for the position based on experience. Furthermore, the incumbent will receive paid annual vacation, return airfare for themselves and their dependents to their nominated home base each year, and duty-free privileges. If the successful candidate is appointed from outside Kenya, he or she will be offered support to relocate to the country and settle in Mbita in western Kenya.
Responsibilities
Undertake studies on the impact of Metarhizium anisopliae on the biology of the stable fly, Stomoxys calcitrans. Evaluate the efficacy of Metarhizium anisopliae for control of the stable fly, Stomoxys calcitrans.
Investigate attractive toxic baits for ticks. Contribute to surveillance of ticks and tick-borne diseases in target areas.
