Primary School teachers create daily lesson plans, conduct classroom discussions, administer and grade assessments, assign and review homework and complete individual student assessments.

Criteria for appointment
• Must be a holder of a p1 certificate
• Must be CBC trained
• Must be TSC registered
• Must be pleasant and versatile
• Male Candidates are encouraged to apply
• Must have not more than 3 years since graduation
Duties and responsibilities
• Teaching the full range of the learning areas.
• plan a program that helps each student achieve learning objectives and curriculum goals.
• prepare lesson materials and resources
• Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and all required professional documents.
• utilize games, music, books, art, technology and other resources to teach basic skills and foster student development
• create a positive and appropriate classroom environment that is conducive for learning
• Supervising students throughout the day, both in the classroom and outside during breaks
• establish and effect rules for acceptable behaviour
• apply and follow up on approved disciplinary interventions
• make referrals for assistance where necessary
• instruct learners on personal hygiene practices and self care
• encourage cooperative social behaviour through games and activities
• observe, evaluate and record children's social and academic progress
• provide constructive feedback to parents, guardians and administration
• plan and order for classroom equipment and supplies as needed
• ensure proper use and accountability of materials used
• ensure equipment and facilities are clean and safe and well taken care of.
• collaborate with other staff members to promote the general health of the school
• perform required administrative duties including attending staff meetings
• uphold the school code of conduct and all school policies, rules and procedures in a supportive and positive manner
• Developing learners’ interests, abilities and coordination using a variety of creative activities including art and music and sports.
• Assessing and evaluating learners educational progress and abilities
• Offering social – psycho support through counselling and emotional support.
• Writing daily assessment reports (formative assessments.)
• Discussing learners progress with parents and guardians.
• Supervising and following the covid-19 protocols as prescribed.
• Doing weekly duties as assigned
Other duties include
• Planning and participation in co-curricular activities e.g. Annual concerts. Swimming galas, sports days, recitals etc.
• Planning and executing parents’ meetings
• Planning and participation in staff activities e.g. Team building activities, trainings
• Transport duties
• Bulletin board duties
• Leading assembly
• Accompanying children for trips
