Use of Strategic sourcing activities and best practices for allocated categories with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions while maintaining and improving product quality and supplier service levels
Responsibilities
Strategically source, streamline and improve sourcing processes for allocated categories
Track forecasted vs actual savings for allocated categories and give reports against these measures and their potential budgetary impact.
Develop and implement product strategies and establish and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive buying.
Manage supplier development/relationships to ensure continuity of good and services that meet quality, service and price performance standards of the company
Develop negotiation strategies and drive negotiations to achieve stated goals and objective
Drive improvement of procurement efficiency and effectiveness for allocated categories
Remain current with market trends through a relationship with suppliers and market experts
Maintain working knowledge of applicable import laws from source markets as well as local laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures to ensure that behavior exhibited by organization with the highest level of integrity, honesty and transparency.
Timely placing of orders for assigned categories and following up to ensure delivery of the same.
Establishing re-order levels for allocated categories and working in collaboration with stock audit department to ensure order of goods is placed on a timely manner to minimize on stock outs.
Responsible for understanding business requirements of the company and use this knowledge to deliver short term and long term sustainable cost savings.
Work within the guidelines of the Supplier Engagement Code, Management and Leadership Principles & the Corporate Business Principles.
Weekly and monthly reporting for demand planning , stock management , categories performance reports
Knowledge Skills and Attitude
BA or equivalent from an accredited university.
Working towards /qualified in CIPS /APICS (preferred)
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement ( preferably within FMCG)
Good knowledge of spend categories, products and suppliers.
Developing negotiation skills.
High achievement focus
Self-starter with lots of initiative and patience
Ability to work under pressure.
Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of e-procurement tools especially SAP
Good decision-making and judgement skills (ability to take data and make logical, pragmatic and sensitive decisions).
Familiarity with project management
