PROJECT ACCOUNTANT, DAPPER PROJECT, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY –AD/12/358/19 (1 POST) (CHS)
Background
The Depression and Primary care Partnership for Effectiveness Implementation Research (DAPPER)project is a grant awarded to the University of Nairobi in collaboration with the University of California inSan Francisco, Kenya Medical Research Institute and Makerere University to conduct effectivenessimplementation hybrid randomized clinical trial of psychotherapy versus pharmacotherapy delivered by non- specialists in Kisumu County.
The positionThe project seeks to recruit an Accountant to support the activities of the DAPPER project. The positionis on contractual terms of one year, renewable based on performance and mutual agreement.
Qualifications
The candidate is expected to have:
Bachelors degree in Commerce, Economics or Accounting from a recognized institution.
Qualified as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Institute of Certified PublicAccountants of Kenya (ICPAK)
Five years work experience of which two must be in donor funded projects, preferrable clinicalresearch projects.
Excellent communication shills
Computer and internet access skills with daily access to internet
High interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
Attention to detail, top notch organizational skills, ability to proactively identify and solveproblems.
Ability to establish rapport with diverse people.
Responsibilities
The Accountant is responsible for supporting budget preparation, invoicing and accounts reconciliation.
The position supports use of resources efficiently and effectively as well as to ensure that activities are within the budget. It also ensures that financial reports are prepared and submitted on time and also ensuring compliance with donor regulations. They are also expected to take up any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
