Position:Project Coordinator – Sanitation and Hygiene
Reporting to:Technical Specialist – Sanitation and Hygeine

Purpose of Position
To provide technical support to sanitation and hygiene programs especially in the area of sanitation marketing, social and behavior change.

Support in the co-ordination of the P & G grant as well as the WASH Universal Coverage activities.

Technical Support

Support implementation of Sanitation & Hygiene interventions (with a special focus on sanitation marketing and disability friendly latrine designs), to ensure quality, effectiveness and timely implementation towards realization of project goals

Quality implementation of Sanitation & Hygiene interventions
Communities with sanitation facilities which comply with the SDG 6.

Co-ordinate water quality issues across WASH programs

Improved water quality across the water supply chain

Ensure that all interventions under his/her jurisdiction within the program areas meet planned outcomes and are implemented in full compliance with WVK, GOK, WHO, SPHERE and other relevant partnership and international standards and guidelines.

Program implementation in line with WVK, Donor and international standards

Coordinate with relevant ministries and other relevant departments in providing technical support in sanitation marketing. Water quality issues and disability friendly WASH

Enhanced collaboration with partners

Monitoring, Evaluation Accountability, Learning and Innovation

Provide technical support during grants activities such as planning, designing, baselines, monitoring, reporting and evaluation

Programs implemented as per plan

Ensure timely and quality development, review and submission of project reports in line with donor(s) guidelines and reporting timelines.

Project reports communicate impact and shared with donor(s) and Ministry of health, Ministry of Water and Sanitation.

Conduct regular field monitoring visits to ensure quality implementation of sanitation marketing initiatives, water quality and disability friendly WASH.

Sanitation marketing/ water quality/ disability friendly initiatives implemented as per plan

Provide documentation of sanitation marketing innovations, WASH disability programming best practices, to facilitate publishing and sharing of the findings with relevant partners and stakeholders as appropriate.

WVK programmatic experiences and achievements shared internally and externally for improved profile

Engagement Networking and Advocacy 20%)
Create, manage and maintain relationship with relevant stakeholders

Effective coordination with other stakeholders in the sanitation and hygiene sector

Ensure program visibility and participation in Sanitation marketing Technical Working Groups/ meetings and other relevant networks.

Actively participate in the Program meetings, and other WVK forums and meetings as appropriate

Integration of the program into WVK programming

Collaborate with the National Office Technical Specialist for Sanitation and Hygiene to provide timely guidance during implementation of grant sanitation and hygiene activities.

Any others (5%)
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designee from time to time;
Participate and contribute to committees and task forces as required.

The Program is well coordinated and management effectively supported through assigned and delegated roles
Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or Environmental Health
Minimum of 3 years’ experience with regard to designing, planning, implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development, sanitation and Hygiene Programs in the NGO sector
Experience in social behaviour change programming and sanitation marketing-very key
Experience working with county government and local implementing partners.
Experience in sanitation and hygiene co-ordination mechanisms such as relevant technical working groups is an added advantage.
Must be a results orientated person who can handle a heavy work load as well as manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands and
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report-writing and formal communication skills.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Lotus Notes (or another main email system such as Microsoft Outlook).
Strong negotiation skills.
Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, and ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds.
Good understanding of World Vision and Sphere relief standards.
Knowledge of and adherence to the NGO Code of Conduct.
