Work Experience:
• At least seven years of experience in managerial roles on similar programs in developing countries, including substantial supervisory experience.
• Significant previous experience managing projects designed to improve last mile immunization programs in fragile settings; familiarity with adaptive management principles is a plus;
• Experience working in the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa and/or West Africa required.
• Substantial experience managing subgrantees required;
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop relations with local counterparts, donors, and other stakeholders;
• Demonstrated innovation and success in staff capacity-building and in participatory, flexible, and gender-sensitive programming and implementation;
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
• Education: Advanced degree (MD, PhD or MA) from an accredited university in public health;
• Language Skills: Fluency in English required; proficiency in French.

Responsibilities
Job Overview:
The IRC is pursuing a new funding to implement a multi-country last mile immunization initiative in fragile, emergency and refugee settings. The Project Director will have overall responsibility for the overall technical delivery of the program, leading a team of professionals spread across the project’s head office and countries of operation. S/he will represent IRC with the donor, partners, local government agencies and other stakeholders; this position will provide technical guidance and oversight to in-country teams responsible for project delivery; and will participate in the design and delivery of the project’s research agenda. She/he will coordinate the development, implementation and reporting on detailed work plans and oversee operations.
Major Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic and technical leadership and direction, define and implement activities to achieve the greatest impact toward project goals and objectives;
• Provide financial and operational management that optimizes resources through sound budgets, consistent financial tracking, and timely submission of reports;
• Oversee technical direction and project delivery to ensure activities are in line with the performance framework and meet all standard operational policies and procedures;
• Ensure project delivery meets all standard operational policies and procedures;
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, government agencies and partners, maintaining a high project profile and effective collaboration;
• Support reporting to donor through both formal and informal debriefings, annual and quarterly reports;
• Represent the project and the organization in public, as assigned, and support the distribution of information about project achievements and lesson learned;
