Project Officer At Christian Health Association Of Kenya (Chak)

Job Summary ProfileChristian Health Association of Kenya is seeking to hire an experienced Project Officer to be based in CHAK Secretariat Offices in Nairobi. This position reports to Program Coordinator-Health System Strengthening.The job holder is responsible for planning, implementation and undertaking Africa Clear Sight Partnership project activities with a goal of increasing awareness and education on presbyopia, the associated risk factors and effects on quality of life with the aim of alleviating the near-vision-associated visual impairment. The position will be based at CHAK secretariat in Nairobi with frequent visit to project hubs (PCEA Kikuyu Hospital, Sabatia Eye Hospital and AIC Lokichogio Health Centre) and the project spokes.Key Responsibilities and DutiesEnsure alignment of project strategies and interventions to best practices, lessons learnt and in line with eye health guidelines.Capacity building of primary health care workers and community health promoters on awareness & education and screening for presbyopiaProvide technical assistance to support community health promoters to conduct awareness and education on presbyopia.Support screening events and offer free corrective reading glasses through community outreaches and in primary care facilities (spokes).Provide onsite mentorship and support supervision within the project hubs, spokes and to community health promoters to ensure good quality of care for eye services.Support advocacy initiatives in collaboration with other stakeholders in eye health to ensure responsive eye care frameworks.Foster partnership and collaboration with the donor, Ministry of Health, County Health Management Teams, Kenya Coalition for Clear Vision, and other stakeholdersParticipate in development of project work plan, oversee implementation of activities and compile project reports and outcomes, as necessary.Represents CHAK in county level technical working groups and stakeholder meetings in relation to eye health services.Participate in proposal development.PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:Academic & Professional Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a Social Science, Clinical or Public Health DisciplineDiploma in Clinical Medicine/NursingHold a Certificate of Registration from a relevant Professional CouncilHold a Valid Practice License from a relevant Professional CouncilExperience:5 years relevant experience with 1 year at supervisory levelSkills and AttributesExcellent Interpersonal and communication skillsManagement and leadership skillsComputer literacyProject Management skillsResource mobilization and proposal development skillsConflict resolution and mediation skillsExcellent report writing and analytical skills.Integrity
