Job description
The OHS Officer will ensure compliance and total adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Procedure and Policy in the Organisation. The officer will be responsible for overseeing and enforcing all safety measures in diverse work environment.
The jobholder must have a detailed knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act guidelines and ability to detect and eradicate any health and safety hazards accordingly.
Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health ACT (OSHA)
Develop for implementation, policies and programs to proactively promote safe working environment that complies with regulatory agencies and internal
Monitor and ensure all employees, contractors and visitors comply with safety guidelines including PPE
Consolidate a companywide H&S risk profile, identifying and ranking potential areas of weakness and communicate the same with concerned stakeholders for review, where
Monitor and evaluate safety inspection programs, and carry out accident and incident Oversee the operations of and prepare daily and periodical reports on the running of the organization
Ensure continuous improvement of Health and Safety standards in terms of the work environment for employees, contractors, sub-contractors and
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and other requirements including annual workplace registration, annual health and safety audits amongst
Coordination of investigation of all accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, property damage or loss, first aid cases and medical treatment cases reported in all company facilities and the identification of corrective and/ or preventative action to prevent recurrence, where
Advise clients on safety compliance concerns and preventative
Performs safety surveys, inspections and audits, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Health and Safety or related studies.
Relevant certification/ accreditation in Occupational Safety and Health
Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, The Work Injuries Benefit Act, Labour laws and subsidiary legislations.
Minimum of 3 years working experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field. Added advantage if within the telecommunications, oil and gas or manufacturing
Good understanding of ISO 45001 or other Occupational Safety and Health Management
Detailed knowledge of OSHA and Clients safety
Exhibit ability to think practically and creatively to implement the best safety
Coursework and training in occupational safety requirements and OSHA guidelines is
Excellent analytical, problem solving and report writing skills
Crisis management skills and high attention to details
Good interpersonal skills
