Security / Fire Marshal Officer

This position is responsible for coordinating and ensuring that the junior staff in the Security department adhere to the laid down policies and are able to carry out their duties optimally to achieve the department’s mandate. Reporting to Security Officer Grade 9, the Security/Fire Marshal Officer Grade 5Requirements for appointment:•Higher National Diploma in Criminology or social sciences or its equivalent•Three (3)years experience as Security Supervisor Grade 4 in a University or appropriately trained in security work in the Kenya Police Service and Kenya Defense Forces either in the rank of Inspector or Lieutenant•Be at least 30 years of age.•No criminal record.•Must be a person of high integrity.•Should be physically and medically fit.•Must be computer proficient.•Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and IntegrityNOTE THAT:i.South Eastern Kenya University is an equal opportunity employer. BOX 170-90200,KITUI.So as to be received on or before Friday, 21st May, 2021.SEKU is an equal opportunity employer•Allocate work to the junior Security Officers on a day to day basis in the department to ensure optimum human resource utilization in achieving the department’s mandate.•Conduct periodic patrols in the University to ensure that all centers are manned at all times and a tight perimeter maintained.•Carry out spot checks at the students’ hostels to ensure that unauthorized activities are monitored for accountability of the hostel occupants.•Issue gate passes to students and staff members to ensure only authorized access to the University.•Issue University visitor badges at the main gate for clear and easy identification.•Arrest both staff and students who may be contravening University rules and regulations and causing violence in the institution.•Report any theft or loss of University property for investigations and further actions.•Ensure welfare of security staff is addressed such as provision of security uniforms and tools of work.•Supervise Security guards.•Maintain Occurrence Book.
