Responsibilities:
Lead legal negotiations with private investors and DFIs (including IFC and World Bank)
Support launch of Burundi's first private electricity distribution utility, ensuring alignment with global best practices
Oversee legal frameworks for HR, business integrity, and employment matters
Advise on government and stakeholder engagement strategies
Manage local legal, tax, and advisory relationships and oversee external counsel
Lead the firm's regulatory and funder compliance efforts
Mitigate legal, commercial, and reputational risks in procurement
Negotiate and oversee construction and infrastructure contracts
Handle day-to-day legal matters: contracts, real estate, imports, tax, insurance, and employee benefits

Qualifications:
Licensed attorney (U.S., U.K., France, Burundi) with 10+ years of experience
Direct exposure to IFC and World Bank processes
Strong project finance background in energy or infrastructure
Prior in-house legal experience in Africa, preferably with a multinational
Knowledge of civil and common law systems
Skilled in working with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, E&S)
Full professional fluency in English and French
